Winter Stuff

We got another nice snow this week. We enjoyed a late start to school and snow ice cream for breakfast again. I have lost track of how many times we've seen our yard covered in white this year! I keep telling the kids that this is not typical.

The girls think this is proper attire for building snow men. Camille has a new pose.

She is using it a lot these days.

She picked out her own Valentiney outfit.

A few weeks ago we had ice that was hard on our young oak tree. Part of it split, and Brad sawed it off and was delighted to use it (leaves and all) as firewood.

Exactly 1 week after the ice and snow above, it snowed again. I got a picture of the window that Kilian decorated with homemade snow flakes.

Finally, it may be February, but we're still enjoying our favorite red and white snowman pajamas and "Fa la la la" flannel sheets.

Pranked

In case anyone saw a strange post on here last night - please disregard it. I left Blogger open when I was finally working on a post and got distracted by the Olympics. As usual, Brad was trying to be funny and his dry sense of humor may have confused anyone that still read this despite the lack of posts.

For the record, I most certainly do not think my blog is better than everyone else's. I'm taking suggestions for how I can pay him back.

Little Orphan Lucy

Earlier this evening Lucy was getting ready to go to a basketball game with Brad and Kilian. (A&M vs. Tech women). She came in with the outfit she picked out on her own.

I said, "Wow! You look like a million bucks, Lucy." Then I asked if she knew what that meant.

She answered:

"Yes. If I was an orphan...and I was in an orphan store, I would cost about a thousand or ten million dollars. (then she smiles really big)....and you probably wouldn't be able to afford me."
~ and ~
Brad has started a little family tradition. If we witness A&M winning against Tech in person at a sporting event - he takes us to Sheridan's on the way home.
Lucy wouldn't be eating Sheridan's because A&M lost tonight, but my Red Raider mom called and asked Brad and the kids to meet her there. She treated - since her team won.

Sure, but late 20's sounds better.

As we're eating the first of our Super Bowl snacks a few minutes ago, Lucy says, "Mom, can you give me this recipe when I'm a teenager? I want to make it for my own kids".

Camilleisms

  • Over the last week or two she has come in our room in the middle of the night saying she had a "scary sleep story" (bad dream)...sometimes about a "sharptooth" (tyrannosaurus rex) and sometimes about other things. We are obviously big fans of The Land Before Time movies.

  • When she is frustrated by something she is trying to do, she says "GOLLEIF!" - which seems to be a hybrid of "golly" and "good grief".

  • Waking up with a stuffy nose yesterday, she tried to breath out of it and proclaimed that her "nose is locked!"

  • Her favorite stories are from the "Strawberry Shortcake Storybook Treasury". Therefore, she always says "berry" instead of "very". As in, "this stinky trash can has berry, berry bad breaf".

=========================================

I call her my enchilada buddy. This cold weather has made me want enchiladas a lot. Instead of buying them at Rosa's, which is always tempting, I've started making them at home. Neither Kilian or Lucy care for things with much melted cheese (weird, huh?) so Camille and I wind up eating them alone until Brad gets home to finish them up.

Finally, I wanted to share how cute Camille and her cousin Zachary looked while chatting on the porch a few days after Christmas.
